Hi, I was fitting a rear camera and using the cigarette lighter socket for power when I accidentally short circuited the socket. I thought I had blown the fuse but it was ok. The Cigarette lighter has no power, also my electric front windows no longer operate. I checked the fuse 47 and its fine, fuses 48 and 49 for the front windows are also ok. So I noticed fuse 49 was also for "Thief proofing system". When I remove fuse 49, the alarm sounds and stops when I replace it. I have checked EVERY fuse on the board and they are all ok. So, I have no cigarette socket working and no front windows working. Anybody know what I can do to make it all better again, or is it a visit to the auto-electricians? Thanks in advance. My car is a 2003 E46 325i Auto SE.
How did you check the fuses? Did you use a digital volt/ohm meter?
Do any of the car’s electrical circuits work?
Yes I used meter and as stated, only the front windows and cigarette lighter socket do not work.
Hi,
Take the car to a local auto electrician for further investigating as to where the issue/problem is. Something else may have melted/short circuited etc.
Cheers, Dennis!
