    Who is going to Oktoberfest?

Anyone? (Besides me, that is). BMW CCA has agreed to spotlight the 8 series at Oktoberfest, in recognition of the 30th anniversary of its release. It would be great to have a good showing, as we did at Sharkfest (maybe even better!). However, hotels and events are filling up fast, so if you are interested, register sooner rather than later.

We have six members of the E31 Chapter registered, but I don't know how many (if any) 8ers may be registered who aren't members of the E31 chapter. Go here for information/registration: https://ofest.bmwcca.org/

That sounds very interesting since I have been having a hard time getting to Sharkfest lately.

My local 8'er friend (I sold him my former Oxford Green Canadian 840ci) and myself are two of the registered people on the list. He's trying to get get his car in shape for the trip. My Oxford 840ci (if I still own by then) will be staying in the garage however, as my wife and I have already registered, purchased airfare, hotel, and a rental car...

Either way, I hope we can all get together at some point during the event!

I'm hopeful the car is in shape to go - I'm local to Greenville/Spartanburg so should be here regardless

I’ve been talking with the BMW CCA executive director about having some E31 specific events at Oktoberfest. We’ve talked about anything from just a separate social hour, to a tech session, to a parade lap at the performance center. It’s still all kind of up in the air as to the specifics, but we will be Having a get together at the very least.

Just checking in to see if there's anything to put on our trip calendar Mike!

We've signed up for just about everything we're going to sign up for (the ZF Transmission factory tour is the only up-in-the-air event, as we're on the wait list), and there will be one dinner/outing happening with our local BMWCCA chapter members, time/date TBD.

So if you've got any plans cooking, let us know so Greg and I can make sure not to have anything else going on when the E31 guys get together.

    Cheers,
    Joe

Sorry for the late response. At this point, based upon the information I've been able to glean from the registrations, there aren't a lot of E31 owners attending. Unless that changes, I'm just planning on hosting one or two 'get togethers', that will be scheduled so as to not interfere with other Oktoberfest daily events. I'm still working with BMW CCA, and will post more information as it develops.

If anyone is on the fence about going -- GO. Also, if you are going (and particularly if you are taking your 8er) but aren't a member of the E31 Chapter: 1) JOIN. Remember, the greater our numbers, the greater our voice is with BMW NA and BMW Ag. 2) Let me know, so I can get a more accurate idea of how many E31 owners are actually attending. Even if you are attending but aren't taking your E31 (and why not? ), please let me know if you are going. Thanks!

I'll be at the Euro Auto Festival, don't think I'll have the time to also participate in Octoberfest, though. Especially if I'm still working overtime in October.

I wanted to enter my 850Ci, but it's still in pretty rough shape for showing off, I don't think I'll be able to shape it up in a month. Then again, it's only $30 more to get a really great parking space, versus just buying tickets and having to shuttle to the show, so I might enter it anyway.
