Ive seen it on m20s, sparse examples of it on m30s; Im talking Eaton Superchargers bolted somewhere onto the motor, with the outlet pipe running to a FMIC, and then into the intake. I know that superchargers themselves are inefficient, compared to something like a turbo.
However my question is, in a configuration where you are running that air from the supercharger, through all that pipe work and intercooler, are you losing power compared to having the supercharger mounted directly to the intake, like most OEMs situate it? From what I can tell that is more of an issue with packaging rather than maximum efficiency, and with an intercooler you obviously will be able to cool down that hot roots blower air. But does a roots blower make sense at all when you situate it far from the intake? Thanks for the help!

What if I am a fan of the power curve, ease of install/removability, and don’t mind a little hot air and hp theft?

Or, you could incorporate an air to water heat exchanger between the compressor and intake ports, connected to a front mounted radiator. Smaller diameter and easier to route piping runs, at the expense of running a circulation pump.

Laminova cores and the custom work needed to fit will be expensive. Not sure how Eaton does it.
I assume all the added complexity and cost of a liquid intercooler sandwiched inbetween the SC outlet and intake manifold would be better suited to a twin screw setup?

The issue I have run into in the past with a roots blower is fitting a large enough blower and charge piping under the hood to generate enough airflow to overcome the IC pressure drop and provide decent manifold boost pressure, while not spinning it so fast that it overheats, kills the bearings, and seizes the rotors to the case. Especially if the blower is sourced from a Mercedes C230 owner who couldn't be bothered to do any maintenance on it.
My pockets have never been deep enough to mess with twin screws and water cooling. The Mazda Millenia OEM twin screw is cheap and would be interesting on a 2L engine, but it's like 26 inches long or something and won't fit in a small engine bay. Now if you had an I6 with enough room for two of those... you could have quadruple screws. Screw quadruplets? Heh, heh.
