Hello, today i went to change both my outer tie rod ends one side went well but the drivers did not. After much struggle i got the lock nut off but after i cant separate my outer from my inner tie rod. I have been spraying penetrating oil and loads of heat but i just cant get them separated, the flat spots on the inner are becoming round and im getting no closer to getting the outer off. Does anyone have any good ways to hold the inner to crack it loose? Or am i stuck waiting a week for a new inner to come in and just replace both?
Yes you are stuck. They are not got to come apart. Replace both the inner and outer on both.

Get a pair of channel locks or remove it, put it in a vice, and see if that will work.

A quality tie rod end costs about $35 and the whole assembly is only $50 per side. Half that for the cheaper parts. Shouldn't have even been an issue, replace the whole assembly.
See ya later,

I only ordered the outers and nowhere within 4 hours of where I live stocks any BMW parts so it wasn't as easy as just grabbing a new inner. What I ended up doing is cutting off the balljoint just short of where the inner tie rod ends then cut 4 slats going along what was left and hammered them off. I wire wheeled all the threads and the new one went on no problem and all my issues are gone.
