no kidding! my thought as well; but it's not all bad, the air intake ducts from in front of the radiator are blowing fresh air directly on the filters. I bought 3" diameter flex tubing to replace this duct and move the filters in front of the radiator.

Good. I see a lot of "hot air intakes" here at the shop and tend to laugh at them.

full disclosure. The Flash Tune is completed now. it took a couple of iterations and some fine tuning. Yesterday when I took the car out and punched it, I got a some jerking around 3-4000k RPM and the car threw a Drivetrain Malfunction and went into "limp mode". After I got back home it was idling in the garage while I was checking the codes, and it cleared all by itself. Mission Tuning advised me to change the spark plugs to NGK with a .022 gap, so I bought some Iridium plugs ($195) and installed them this a.m. (note old plugs were Bosch OEM with 44k miles on them and a .032 gap)
I made several runs today up and down the highway and the car accelerates smoothly through all RPM ranges and quite VIOLENTLY!

Hats Off to Alex at Mission Tuning. He was fantastic!

Quick vid of the exhaust tone coming from the Meisterschaft exhaust. Near the end you can hear the turbos spinning down which wasn’t there with the stock system. Thanks!

Sounds good. Tweaking and tuning is always a work in progress. Sounds like you're happy with it.

Giving serious consideration to upgrading the turbo's. In my dialogue with Pure, they are telling me that the stock intercoolers are actually pretty good, and that based on my current configuration, their Stage 1 turbo would get me to +700whp, which is where I'd like to be (Stage 2 +800whp with additional mods.)
The price point for the Stage 1 turbo is very good $2700.

indeed. it does include the core deposit. they're getting back two with 47k miles on them. I need to prioritize getting them removed and shipped back.

the pure turbo warranty requires that I also replace the oil supply line, so I'll be doing that as well.

While you're in there, you better be replacing the oil return cover and the coolant y-pipe vent hose. And the turbo coolant lines if they haven't been done already.

Pure Stage 1 turbo installed completed. No leaks and runs fantastic! Noticeable increase in power curve even at low RPM.
Next step to get some data logging so Mission can tweak the tune a little and hopefully this summer would like to get to a dyno-shop.

Took a lot of photos so I will post separate write-up with steps when I get time.

Full install write-up moved to here https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...tage-1-(N63TU)

I am presently tracking two issues to resolution:

    1) The stock OEM 2.5 millibar MAP sensors are only effective to 20 psi boost? The Pure Stage 1 turbos exceed this, and thus I am seeing a performance hit based on the current engine programming. This is only noticeable under full throttle. I have order 3.5 millibar MAP sensors from Burger Motorsports (N20's) and Mission will adjust the engine flash according. Also planning to do some data logging and make further adjustments.

    2) Under full acceleration, there is a momentary lag (.5-1.0 sec) after the transmission shifts gears. I'm told by Mission that the transmission program has an internal 700nm torque limit setting, and that I am exceeding that; thus the transmission is attempting to "throttle" the engine via vacuum assist. this is apparently detrimental to the overall health of the transmission, and thus Mission is strongly recommending the 8HP70 Transmission Flash upgrade which will correct this. I wasn't really planning on spending another $699 on this build for that, but I want it done right, so I am planning on this as well.

Cross-posted in the build thread under Forced Induction.

Looks good! Where did you get your diffuser from? I live in the DFW metroplex. I'm looking to do the same thing with the quatro exhaust.

I got this one on Amazon, made by JC Sportline, they might have an eBay store that's cheaper though. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

this was today at Jotech Motorsports on a Dynojet 424x that is properly calibrated. Decent numbers considering it was almost 100F outside, moderate humidity and running
about a E50 mix with no other fuel systems modes. 539 whp (stock 385whp) and 631 ft-lb torque. (stock 480 ft-lb).

Also the Power-to-weight ratio on the car is wayyyy better now!
