Curious: what do you all think about new BMWs? (F90, etc)

I have 213k on my e39 and I plan on maintaining it as long as possible, plus getting a spare motor and build it up and swap in maybe next year. Sure there are things to replace, gaskets, hoses, etc, but overall if the vehicle is well maintained, then why get rid of it?

Plus motor swap options exist.

Yeah, you have a really nice 2002 540i ,right? So that's a keeper for sure. While mine runs OK is maintained too ,but, it still is only a basic 97 520ia so i'd rather change it for the younger one with more safety features and i want a bit more power too.

Yeah the spare motor is a good idea if you are gonna keep yours. If i'll stay on the E39 car, i'll get a motor hoist so then i can do like anything. I already have a service pit ,and like all the tools i need for cars, with the exception that i can't swap the engines yet.

Speaking of motor swaps... anyone seen the mad works of Damien Maguire on YouTube? Electric E39 anyone? ;-)

I'll probably eventually get a Tesla as my DD and leave the e39 garaged for reminiscing the good ol' petrol days
