1979 633CSi no start, no spark

I just purchased a 1979 BMW 633CSi, we drove it on the trailer at the dealer, it was running ruogh, at home I put a gallon of fuel in it, it wouldn't start. I checked voltage at coil, has more than 14 Volts, same as battery. I saw wires from distributor to a sensor in vacuum line next to throttle, which is in bad shape. Also there is a black box at right wheel house wall, which might be the ICM? Could someone give advice, thank you.

Ignition coil is a wear item, do you have anything coming out from it going to the distributor?

I checked voltage on coil contact #1 and #15, both had 14 V, also I exchanged the coil from my 733i, no change, didn't start, no spark. I did not measure voltage at the distributer input.

If you think the coil is good, than move down the line on to the distributor cap and rotor that is inside.

With a newly-acquired car especially you have to be methodical. Trace your ignition circuit all the way and find out where the voltage goes away. Once you've got that sorted, make sure air and fuel are reliable and consistent.

Not that I think it's necessarily your current issue, but the main relay on these is problematic IIRC. Looks like a normal Bosch 4-pin, but has five pins. I always carried a spare when I had my E28.
