I have a 2002 325ci M54 2.5. I'm in need of new engine. Was wondering what engines can I drop in, hook up without any modifications or very little? I'm finding if diffucult
to find a good used 2.5 lol...

You could use:
- M52TUB28
- M54B30
Both would need the DME recoded to allow for the bigger capacity of the engine.
There is also a M52TUB25 (323i) engine that will not require any DME changes as it is the same capacity as your current engine.
If you buy a M52 engine, make sure that it the TU version with dual VANOS.

Recoding is not necessary but you will be leaving about 10 hp on the table without it. Still a net gain from the increase in displacement though.
Whatever you install, use your existing intake manifold, throttle body and injectors. It will run just as well as the 2.5 does.
