has anyone here had crush muffler shop bends then switching to mandrel noticed any gains?
i know this is a real specific question but that's on my mind recently.
not likely because u dudes are straight ballers but worth a post.
fixed a massive exhaust leak today and had to step back and take a good think about this thing.
btw this exhaust was made like 8 years agoat a muffler shop and i've modded it many many times to fit my different setups.
the middle muffler is a glasspack with the louvers, but i ran it in reverse so it wouldn't restrict flow so much.
rear muffler is a 23'' magnaflow. about 10 years old perhaps.
Oh boy
Crush me
Louve it
Took a clip
just was heating up the header paint and noticed
what to me appears to be back pressure in an open pipe? wtf.https://youtu.be/T2LK0eS2Xp8

You are going to lose some power, how much on a turbo application? Probably not that much if it is 3" pipe. But some. My guess would be less than 5whp, unless you are getting closer to quad digit numbers, then you would see a little more.
I doubt there have been many apples to apples comparison testing done on our applications by anyone in here.
Is it worth it to upgrade to mandrel? Are you rich with a bunch of money burning a hole in your pocket? No? Then I would spend money elsewhere until the rest of your build is exactly how you want it.
It's a big difference. I changed from a crush bent 3" to a mandrel bent 3" on pump gas years ago and went from 445whp to 505whp. A solid 50+whp pull after pull just from an exhaust change.

lol. ya you don't have to be rich to buy acouple 45s and a 90.
i'm changing the clutch right now so might as well. will do a dyno and post back.
probably at a higher boost level though. probably replace the hotdog with a muffler for extra silent mode.
ps. Do not get kevlar they NEVER brake in EVER.
machining marks are perfectly intact as the day it was resurfaced maybe 4 years ago.
low power material or for gran dads they don't beat on it.
