Open the trunk on the car the other day after it had been in some heavy rain and I can hear water sloshing around inside the trunk lid. Best I can tell it's getting in underneath a spoiler. Anyone seen this before?

I pulled the spoiler off both my M6 and 635 to see what's below. The thing acts like a dam and holds the water in and although the nuts that hold it in place have that rubber grommet, the water still gets in. I used 3M strip calk and wrapped each of the spoiler studs with it so when put in place, it would waterproof the hole in the trunk from above in addition to the grommet. You should pull the spoiler off anyway, so much crap under it...especially where we live.

Thanks that's what I thought. Now I know why my toolkit is rusty too.

I’ve drilled two 2mm holes in the bootlid so when it’s opened the water drains out. Best is to seal the spoiler as said above though
