Exclamation BIG trouble! Locked BMW E30 cover with disconnected latch wires

Hi all. I think that i am living the typical do it yourself- get yourself in big trouble stituation.
My manual softtop release latch broke ( thanks to my brother) and I purchased an aftermarket latch to replace it. After viewing an Youtube tutorial, it seemed pretty straight forward to do at home so I gave it a try.

After unplugging both (passenger and driver) latch cables from the old latch, I released the proximal connections between the latches and locks to give me more room to pull the cable and connect it to new latch. Unfortunatly, I didn't secure the softtop cover and it fell and closed locking itself in place. Now I am in big trouble with disconnected cables, I can no longer action the locks to open it up again?

I know it's a STUPID situation but is there anyway to disengage directly the locks with cables disconnected?

    Thanks all for your help.

Did you try removing the back seat?

one thing to try after looking at mine... take the plastic cover off the top where the hardtop post is... then you can reach in there and manually open the latch. you will have to do it with both side. Careful though... those are fragile and $140 ea to replace.
