I’m looking for a good m52 head. Is it even worth buying used or should I just get the new Chinese cast from eBay? Trying to keep price of build down and this was a wrench thrown straight at the budget

We all take a chance with a used head.
M52 build variant of “400” (1738400) casting has same valve but lighter springs than S52 “400” casting build up.
The aftermarket cylinder head AMC (Amedeo Marti Carbonell) is a Spanish company, unlikely they offload to China

So I could use an s52 head?

Yes. Or you could try and have yours rebuilt professionally at a machine shop and not have to worry about the quality of a used head.
At the price of a head I’m looking into an ls swap I’m tired of playing blues clues with this car

If you were local id have a couple for you to chose from.
An ls swap isnt going to cost as little as a self installed new head. Unless of coarse you already own the ls and parts. A head replacement should be under $600 if the new head needs to be machined to match older valves and the sort.
Nobody would recertify these machines after somebody screwed with them without any visibility into what they did.

Car needs way more than just a new head. Needs at least 2 injectors, lots of random missing bolts in important places. Only god knows how long the coolant/oil mix sat in the oil pan nor do I know the mileage as the car came with gauge cluster and title says exempt it’s safe to say if I’m going to save this turd it needs to be swapped I’ll spend thousands tracking all this small stuff down vs a one time $1500 bucks for a full turn key ls swap

He’s 6 miles down the road and says he will deliver tomorrow afternoon for $650

I wouldnt waste my time with a 4.8. but thats just me. 5.3 or 6.0 minimum. At least if you're gonna spend the effort, get some power out of it. 4.8L chevy is a dog. My humble opinion. Next comes trans (T-56?), mounts, driveshaft, cooling, hoses, wiring, etc.....
... proprietary header, radiator, engine mounts, transmission mounts and cross member, drive shaft, new differential w/LS

Seller includes the 4.8, 4l60e trans with complete harness and ecu for a rock solid $650 delivered to my door. The 4.8 will be more than enough to give you a chubby in this little car and it makes 100 more than what the m52 has already and with a cam and heads can easily make 400 hp I have owned several ls cars and trucks they are tried and true through and through. Cxracing makes a complete drop in kit including exhaust and radiator piping and all the mounts for 1700 shipped. The 3.91 open diff will handle the power just fine with a proper made driveshaft of course which will be the most expensive part of this because that will have to be outsourced and custom. I think my planning is over it’s time to get busy. Least we not forget I have the entire rest of the car to put together

This has turned into a complete restore. I want this to be a nice daily in the end as I never intended for this to be a track car. I’m getting old and tired of shifting gears folks
