I say give it another few years and all these cars that have been chopped up or cheaply modded will increase the value of the nicer ones. Its just like all the square body Silverados now. Everyone thinks that they're barely running truck is worth $3k because its a square body Chevy. Even the OBS (88-98) trucks are getting like that now where the nicer ones are worth a bit and GM mass produced these trucks for many years. Give it enough time and I think a nice, non-beaten to death E36 will become highly desirable to the right people.

Yes, I was being overly dramatic. That's how the media sells their excrement, right? It just struck a nerve at the time when I was searching for parts to keep my car from ending up on Youtube as a "drift car". I'm over it and will buck up for the parts.

What I was looking for in the way of forums were a plethora of threads showing complete tear-downs, and rebuilds. I figured there would be for a car of this popularity and age. Joe's journal is very close and awesome, but it was mostly mechanical. Am I planning a full body strip restoration? Probably not on this car. Too many PO didn't know what jacking points are and I would have to put the car on a rotisserie to straighten the floor pan. But, a good thread would be fun to read and help with correcting window seals and body trim. I know there are tutorials for the information I seek, but following someone's build is exciting and inspiring.

I mean, I can understand doing it and why, but you are not going to convince me its somehow "Better" than a well modified car... and what does that look like? Its all perspective and opinion, although I would certainly agree that the newly converted Honda community beating these chassis into bantha fodder will do nothing but increase their value in the long term... In the short term it has left a shit stain on the reputation of the vehicle.
Fiber, you pretty much read my mind. Tasteful mods are definitely in order, but I gotta get the wheels under the car. My E38 style 5s stick out too far with their low offset and the high camber/stretch is not an option.

Check out the E36 specific forum of m3forum.net, you will find a lot of build threads there. Even on the first page there are several. Also, alot of members here have started build threads if you search our started threads. Welcome to the E36, hope you enjoy it!

I have a full set of style 30's in the bay area I am selling (One slightly bent but fixable, there are 5 wheels) if you are looking for some OE wheels that fit and are in the Sf Bay Area. Not looking to ship them.
I know no soliciting but I mean the guy needs some wheels lol...
