Good morning everyone!
This weekend I took it upon myself to swap out the suspension on my E36 to a Dinan Stage 1 setup. I got the front completed, put back together and wheels back on yesterday. Haven't started the rear yet.
Question - The front strut housing where the spring rests on the bottom holder is literally about a finger width away from the tire. As in, when I reach my hand back next to the rear of the tire, I can only squeeze a finger in between the tire tread and the bottom or the spring on the strut housing. This can't possibly be right, can it? What could I have done wrong when putting everything back together?
The strut adjustment screw within the strut tower is located towards the rear of the car, just like it was when I removed the strut. All the bolts lined back up and went back in without issue.
Help?!
ps - I can take a few pics and post if that would help of anything we'd need to see
Sounds correct. These are conventional strut housings correct? Basically a Koni “Cut-n-Gut” strut insert installation.
What wheels and tires are you running?

Yes to all the above! It's the stock/conventional strut housings with the Koni inserts, the top of the housing tube is cut away, there's a hole drilled out of the bottom for a bolt, and the new strut insert is placed in the old housing. That's why I've been confused, there's not much that can go wrong there!
They are the stock M3 wheels, 225/45R17 tires.
Thanks!
Update - Sounds like everything's fine and that's the way it's supposed to be. Just seemed a little tight, but I called Dinan to double check and they said I'm good to go.
The spindle revision (along with the FLCA, centered FLCABushings and strut mount) places the front tires close to the strut for 1996+M3s.
