Passenger Door Lock Clicking and not unlocking by pulling inside door handle.

Hey guys, new to the forums and recently purchased a 2006 z4 3.0si with the 6 speed manual. I love the car and its quite good condition. The only issue is that the door lock on the passenger side will unlock and lock with the button both on the remote and the inside button. However the little post never changes position, it simply clicks and never moves. However like I said the the door does unlock and lock fully functional, it simply doesn't change the position of the small post indicator. This also means that when you pull the handle when the car is locked the post rises from the door but returns to the position, and never unlocks. Hence you have to use the button. Has anyone had an issue like this? And if so how did you fix it? It is incredibly annoying as passengers have to unlock the car with the center button which unlocks it but does not move the indicator making that odd clicking sound. Thank you!

Cost me 2+ K to find out the conncetors were corroded. The answer was to eliminate the lock or pay 3+ K for a new wire harness. This is all BMW dealership, I gave up and have no locks now.
