Hi, I own a 1987 BMW 318i and I'm unsure of how to source/install a sound system in my car.
Mechanically, I understand the car, however, I have always been uncertain about the electronics of a vehicle. I'm looking to change the stereo and speakers. I don't need any subs or tweeters as they take up space. All I need is a sound system that sounds clear, clean and perfect for a daily car. I would also love to know how to install it in the vehicle!
Thanks!
What is the current set up? I bet the head unit (the “radio” in the dash) houses the amplifier.
Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of the car’s vehicle identification number. Hit enter and bookmark the page. Scroll down to the audio section. The design of the audio system should be shown. Also, take a picture of one of the door’s Interior panel and post it on an image website. Provide the link.
Basically, start with the speakers. Upgrading the speakers provides the biggest bang for the buck, American or Australian!
