Steering wheel controls with aftermarket stereo

Hey there, does anyone have any experience wiring up a PAC SWI-RC to an Alpine stereo?

I’m struggling with getting the right radio wire from the slip ring to use to program the volume buttons.

    cheers!

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately my slipring wire harness has Blue, Grey, Yellow, Black, and Brown wires, besides the red and white airbag wires. There is no white/yellow wire.

What year? I’ve done 50-60 e series cars all of them have white/grey or white/red with yellow dots. You need to look further down the column for wire not at spring. If your patience you can get the voice button to program too.

There is that wire in other areas of the car, but I have retrofit the wheel to an 850i that did not have a multi function wheel.

the PAC instructions say to cut the white/yellow wire at the harness and run it from the steering wheel side into the unit, and cap off the car side, so it shouldn’t matter that I don’t have the car side wire right?

The aftermarket alpine pigtail that plugs into the bmw harness also does not have a connection at the White/yellow wire on that end anyways.

the one thing I was wondering was whether my steering wheel buttons had the multi function module in the bottom housing, or if it was supposed to be connected to a middle under the wheel. Apparently some older models had the module as a separate unit. This could be an issue perhaps

All the pins are black coming out of it. The car didn’t come with a multifunction steering wheel, so there is no harness car side to connect to it.

there is an empty slot on both sides.

the PAC SWI-RC should be as simple as connecting the steering buttons wire
to the adapter, which then connects to the remote jack of the stereo.

unfortunately, with the proper PAC set up I can’t get it to program the buttons.

Do the buttons light up? I’m thinking maybe there’s no power to buttons. I’m looking for a wiring diagram, haven’t found one yet
