    DGES 38 install today

I'm changing my 32/36 to a 38 on the '79 320i today. Has anyone done this? and how much of the carb opening do I need to grind out to make clearance for the new oversized butterfly? Pics would be nice. I'm just waiting on the mailman.

Some don't frequent the board as much. Also carb users seem slim these days

Here's a link to a recent thread for info on tuning. Far as fitment yup just open the base until the butterflies fit with some room to spare.

You can use the Gasket as a template as well.

I installed it last night and I trimmed up the manifold with a dremel until I had sufficient clearance for wide open throttle. I tuned it by ear and per online instruction. The 38/38 beats the shit out of the 32/36. Excellent throttle response, smooth idle. I found a ton of info on the 02 site.

Congrats. The 38 is really awesome performance with simplicity. Performance per $ I'd put my money on the 38 vs sidedrafts and even fuel injection. It's just that hard to beat a well working 38 setup.
