On my 1996 328is, Ive recently had a problem with the fan speed controller (digital). When I turn on the AC, the fan speed will adjust for the lowest 2 settings but will not increase if I press the + button. On the other hand if I have the speed on max and turn the car off and on, the fan speed will be at max but it will only stay like that for a couple minutes before reverting back to the lowest speed. My father suspects its the fan speed resistor but I've seen other posts that say otherwise and i can't find another post that has the intermittent problem like I have been having. Any advice will help as its getting really hot here in Arizona and I would like to enjoy the car without sweating my ass off every time I drive it. Thanks!
If you have digital climate control then its the resistor pack. the part with all the aluminum fins:
