    Gasket surface cleaner?

Just got my new metal oil pan gasket, not really interested in scraping the crap out of my gasket surface, curious on what product you guys are using to clean up the gasket surface, on the aluminum pan and block?

CRC Brake Parts Cleaner--red can. And razor blades (very carefully). Paper towels and dish gloves. Goggles. High ventilation.

Thanks for the CRC hook up, was also looking at the CRC QC-82 degreaser, might get both, and give it a whirl on the oil pan first.

There's barely ever been ANY residue the fifty (>50) or more times I've pulled off a BMW oil pan gasket, and when there is__4-points: at rear main seal holder (2) and at timing chest cover (2 more). Furthermore, the little residue that was there, you could remove with a dull popsicle stick (I use a mahogany wedge).

Thanks for the response, yeah along where the rubber portion of the gasket seals, is clean, its just in between the bolt holes, where most of the grit is located, and some of will come off with my finger nail, I think ill be fine with some CRC Brakleen.
