Hi friends,
I'm about to make a move cross country. Girlfriend likes to listen to her music, and both my cars have primitive systems that don't have auxiliary jacks. Can someone please direct me? Neither car can do without their stock systems, because these are interconnected to cluster and elsewhere. Adapters? Splice into CD changer outputs? Stick a cassette adapter thing into the M5? (No such item on the Benz)
But the girlfriend will hopefully last well past the trip, and she's worth keeping happy.
Cars are '01 M5, and '05 Benz E500.

I rigged up one of the cassette adapters on my old E39 with no complaints. You could probably get fancy by plugging the AUX into a Bluetooth adapter and really impress her.

I am sure your phone has a Bluetooth, and you can play the songs that way.
Good luck with the drive!

Chris, do the cars have CD changer cables in the trunk? If they do there are several excellent options available. Try GROM and Dension.
Edit: your 2001 M5 does have the changer wiring!! I checked realoem.

I hope you like her music, you have a long ride ahead. There are several items that connect via the CD changer cable in the trunk. I have an old one that adapts an I-pod. Most functions are accessed through the car's controls. As I recall the "CD" selection chooses from playlists, etc. Some tedious interior wiring involved for a clean install.

Actually there are some solutions that plug into the changer connector at the back of the head unit.
Good to see you back Chris. Congrats! PO installed an aux cable in my car that I assumed just plugged into the back of the head unit (that's how it worked when I installed one in my 06 miata)... Bear in mind I don't know what the hell I am talking about (you already knew that!). I really just stopped by to say good luck!
