Hello. I’ve read a lot about adding keyless entry to my 1990 735i. I’ve confirmed that it’s pre-wired for the Infrared (IR) system. A friend of mine pulled a Radio frequency (RF) keyless entry/alarm system from a ‘92 535i and I’m wondering if it would be plug and play compatible with my car or if extensive wiring would be required. I’ve seen. The diys for adding the IR system to early pre-wired and non-pre-wired cars but I have not seen any diys that discuss adding the later BMW RF system to a car pre-wired for IR. Thanks for any help!
There is a DIY for the RF on Johan's site http://bmwe32.masscom.net/ivo/remote...e_install.html
Maybe the easiest is a aftermarket system from UAS http://unitedautosecurity.net/Keyles...1-P847624.aspx
Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
I don't they are interchangeable. I have a complete, including keys(switchblade) and lock cylinders, IR remote setup already pulled from a 90 750 if you're interested.
Thanks, shogun. This seems to be for the later IR system.
VW, I’ll PM you.
