I am thinking of getting my valve cover powder coated. Previous owner painted it black with cheap paint that was not resistant to heat. So it’s all bubbled or or missing. But the question is. Do I touch up the silver to keep an oem look? Or do I use this as a chance to be artsy? I like a matte black or tastefully done bronze. But the more I think about it. The less I like the idea...
Any thoughts?
Get it color matched to your factory blue with a nice m power oil cap. Clean, simple and good looking.

I was actually looking into that. My only fear is that the paint match doesn’t actually match perfect. Or after time it starts to change due to heat. But I really do like the idea.
Just make sure you get it powder coated it will last the life of the vehicle just be careful when doing maintenance not to scratch it up

Eh, its preference. The m52 ones are black plastic so its not really a thing to rag on. I had my obdl orange until i went with plastic m52 conversion. Sometimes the metal oned dont do so well when being baked. Mine warped from it and it took alot of hassle to be able to use it without leaks. Also ended up ditching it.. Not gonna pay $400 for a new one. Haha.
Nobody would recertify these machines after somebody screwed with them without any visibility into what they did.

I used black high temp crinkle paint. It has lasted about two years and is now flaking off by the exhaust side. I'll pull it and put some more on in the future. Powdercoating will last longer, it will also cost more.
If it's a magnesium cover make sure the powder coat shop knows how to work with it. Had I not mentioned it to the shop I use they said they would have ended up destroying it using their normal process.
