    4-Series and 5-Series Difference

How much difference is there between a 4 series and a 5 series. I am wanting Mineral Gray and it apparently isnt available on a 5 series. So, if i want Mineral Gray, i might have to go with a 4 series.

Is the 5 series really all that much better than a 4 series?

    Thanks for any help!

    r/Mike

The 4-Series and the 5-Series are different platforms. The 4-Series is more or less a 3-Series, each offering different body styles.

    Thanks for the info.

I am just wondering, I guess what I am asking here is...…..Is the 5-Series 10 times the car that a 4-Series is in terms of performance, handling, options, etc, etc?

I am a single guy, no kids here.

No, that is not the case. The different series vary in size. intent and each offer different features/options.

You would do well by reading a bit of what BMW has to say on their site, including the links I provided earlier, the various model specific sub-forums of Bimmerforums and decide what it is you are looking for in a car.

Choosing a 4 series over a 5 series only because it comes in Mineral Grey is like choosing a banana over an apple because it comes in yellow. Not necessarily a bad thing, both are great, but the reasons for choosing have nothing to do with flavor.

Well, to me, the color is very important. I wouldnt want to spend a ton of $$$ to get a car thats not the color that i want. For me personally, no wife and kids, it appears a 4-Series might be just fine. From what i see the main differences between the 4-Series and 5-Series are as follows:

    1) 5-Series is a four door.
    2) 5-Series is about a foot longer.
    3) 5-Series is 3-4 inches wider.
    4) 5-Series the LCD Display is 1.5" bigger.

To me, with no wife and kids, those arent a big deal at all. And again, the main thing is i get the color i want.

Yes, if your selection criteria are "Mineral Grey" and "car", a 4 Series will fit the bill nicely.

And i forgot to mention that 5-Series might have a slightly better/smoother ride than a 4-Series.

I think i have about convinced myself to go with a black 5-Series. With the whitish (beige, ivory, whatever) interior. There's a couple of 5s out there on Cars.com that look pretty nice.

Black is a bit darker than Mineral Gray.

Should have a wider selection in black ( or white) as they are "safety" colors for BMWs.

We drive a mineral gray/coral red '15 335xi becuse we liked the looks in person as a CPO.

Would never order the combo without seeing it. Would go for black or white
