Hi Guys,
My 2001 E38 740iL had a timing chain issue and had to get rid of it some time ago. However, i took out both the front seats and the entire rear bench with the intention of turning them into a sweet furniture set.
There are a couple of problems. For what i want to be able to do, wiring these wont be easy or at least thats the impression i have. I want each seat to connect to a traditional household outlet. I want the heating, massage, and power functions to work. I spoke with a technician at a Chevy dealer where i work and they said it might be pretty simple as long as it doesn't have a 'module'. Im not sure what that means or how that really effects the difficulty.
Im drawing plans to create a piano black frame for each seat.
Where should i start, what info do i need, any ideas or advice?
Thanks in advance!!!
Hi,
The motors in the seats work with 12V so I'd say look at the wiring from the seat and maybe with the help of the E38 section of this and other forums, you can work out what each wire is connected to and is for. It 'might' be a case of applying 12V to the relevant wire that activates it's function, or it might be more complex than that. Hopefully, once analysed and worked out as what's what - it'll be relatively easy to get it all working.
Cheers, Dennis!
Thanks Dennis!
I really appreciate it.
