I'm interested in getting some opinions on electric fan setup for a track car. I have a 12/96 build 2.8 roadster being set up for track use- no A/C components and mechanical fan removed.
What I'm wondering is, is there a consensus on pusher vs. puller electric fans? Considering the A/C radiator will not be present on my car, it looks like it'd be simpler to mount a pusher fan in the front and take advantage of the factory ducting. Otherwise, I have seen many posts about swapping radiator shrouds for mounting a puller fan in the engine bay.
For those with track use cars with no A/C, what is your setup?
If it is a track only car, the OEM pusher fan will be more than enough assuming you have the air correctly passing through the radiator and not around it. Correct belly and input shrouding a must. I run without a mechanical fan and only use the OEM pusher fan. The fan only comes on in the paddock at the end of a run or if I override with an in car manual switch. I run a 425 rwhp LS2 engine. So assuming your water pump and shrouding is up to the task, the OEM pusher is all you need. Remember, the air pressure at speed on track is more than enough to cool all but the biggest of engines.

Thanks for the input. If the stock setup works, that's good for me. All the shrouding is intact and in place on the car still. I'll just be replacing my stock fan with a generic SPAL that's the same size (the stock fan has some resistance/noise issues).
