Purchase Advice: 2016 vs 2017 X5M

I am in the market for a DD and warranty is key for me. I had a previous preowned x3 that was covered under the old maintenance / warranty. There are a ton more X5Ms on the market but the 2017 are attractive as I get an extra year of warranty but not sure if the extra cost of 2017 is worth it if I can get an extended warranty. I got some initial pricing for an extra 2 years at 3650 but it was limited warranty and not much details. I am guessing 10k per year max for mileage so years is more than mileage.

There are several 2016's in the $55-$60K range with 30-50K mileage but some with 10-20K mileage in the $60-65 range. Does it makes sense to spend more on the lower mileage vs. purchasing an extended warranty to cover me for the unknown. The 2017s are much more expensive even with the additional year of warranty.

Lastly, there are several good deals at non bmw dealers. Assuming clean Carfax, does it matter given bmw is still warranting the suv?
