Hi all,
I'm a newbie to the forum. This is my first post and I'm hoping for some feedback. I have a 2000 323I and bought it 6 months ago. Can't seem to stop my Amber oil pressure light from appearing for about 10 seconds upon startup every time, without fail. I changed the oil pressure sensor 2x already. Can't stop this thing from turning on every time I start the car. The light doesn't come on at any other time- either idling or driving. Only for those 10 seconds. Any ideas? Thanks
mjd718: have you checked the oil level...was the oil level sensor oem? I'm only familiar with the opposite meaning the oil light stays on several seconds 10 Once you turn the car off after driving .....check your owner's manual see what it says about this issue

Yellow oil light is either low oil level (check oil) or a faulty oil level sensor. If the oil level is ok, replace the oil level sensor at the next oil change. Use hella brand sensor.

Plausible values error will be stored in computer's memory if you indeed have an issue with the sensor - have it scanned instead of throwing $ away. Also, make sure your car side plug of the sensor isn't damaged/corroded/loose.
The yellow light that stays on for about ten seconds at ignition is literally the signal from the computer that the level sensor is not working correctly. It is like a seat belt not fastened light.
In this case you don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowin’...
You mentioned that you have changed the oil pressure sensor already. The oil level sensor is in the bottom of the oil sump and is different to the pressure sensor.

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.
+1 for oil level sensor on bottom of oil pan.

Yellow oil level, red oil pressure
If I'm interpreting right yellow indicates oil level or sensor. and if the icon shows red it's for the oil pressure? So at the start op starts by describing a amber (yellow) pressure light! according to you there is no such thing? Ah! a trick question!
