Yes, I was surprised at that, as there really is not much a market for 25 year old BMWs, not much interest even with clean ones. I did not think it would go past $10k...

Well, $18k doesn't buy much in low mileage quality built cars these days.
The light grey interior makes me weak in the knees and I love that green, but together............
Looks like a nice well cared for old car. Another $1 or so to freshen up whatever and you have a nearly new very nice car.
Just wish it were a six

Crazy. A 530 isn't worth that much. It would be under 10k in Australia where it's rarer and cost more in the first place. Typical BaT inflation/hot head bidders. E: And typical BaT sellers just flipping something they just bought. I have no idea why people fall for it.
Just last year a low km immaculate e28 with a s50b32 conversion sold for the same money.
M5s are not much more - about $21k

E34 M5s are worth north of 60k so 17k for a 530 doesnt surprise me
I own mostly junk. Except the Porsche, that's kind of cool.

The 80s/90s are in. It’s the perfect blend between “vintage/older” car feel, and most of the modern comforts that make actually using the cars enjoyable. I don’t think this was a good buy, at all, but it’s also not my money. I would honestly prefer a straight six, for that classic bmw experience, but even the b40 would be worth it for the power alone. Is there something indelibly endearing that the small v8 posses?

Not much endearing about a b30 but I'd probably bite on a well priced 530iT to ultimately swap to 4L+.

$60k? That's air cooled 911 money. Maybe with equally low miles but I haven't seen a well driven one get even close to that.

I have it on good authority that the E34 M5 is the next E30 M3.
60k only gets you a hammered example. 80k gets you a nice one.

Agreed on both counts. The money people are spending on good 964s right now is bonkers.
    Hope you're well, G.

While I was looking for my E34, I found a 95 540i in Houston with 134k miles for 9900.00. I called the guy and tried to bargain him down. He told me the price is what it is, and if I didn't like the price I could go somewhere else.
