Hi there!
I'm new here. I have a 1994 325IS car that had an engine failure (The previous mechanic did an overhaul incorrectly, the camshaft caps popped off, the head destroyed itself and the pistons went SMASH SMASH SMASH SMASH). LOL
Anyways, it has the stock M50 Engine in it. Its a 6 speed manual Transmission.
A friend found the exact same motor out of another 325i, but it came out of an automatic car. He told me it can be swapped into my car with ease.
Is this true? How hard is it to swap this engine into my car? will it just fit right into my manual transmission?
Thanks!
Tristen
They don't have a 6 speed manual tran from factory in that body style. Are you in us or elsewhere.

I live in Canada - its a 1994 325is with a 6 speed manual transmission. Its possible a previous owner swapped a manual transmission in - but it was like that when I got it. M50 Motor, 6 speed tranny
I'm no expert but basically: if they're from the same range of years (meaning OBDI) then you should be able to interchange the motors. There will be parts that are different for attaching the transmission, but you should be able to swap them from the old motor to new ( flex plate and torque converter for flywheel and clutch, for example). You could likely reference the "Auto to Manual Swap" threads to get a better understanding of what differences there are.
