Mystery cable next to radiator

Hi everyone!

I found a disconnected cable next to the radiator. The green one goes to the temperature switch on the radiator but the red one was disconnected and I can't find anywhere I should be connected.

The only thing close by is the expansion tank but it doesn't have a sensor on the bottom and according to realoem there's not supposed to be one on my m73. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=17_0597

Any ideas what the red cable could be?

Some tanks had the sensor. My 91 had the plug, my 93 doesn’t.

Is the wire just left disconnected on your 93 or does it have a different harness?

If it is the AUC sensor (for automatic re circulation) then it will have four wires and a four-way connector.

Figured this out...

The connector is indeed for the auc sensor which is placed on the right hand side of the radiator shroud.

Found an auc sensor and a whole connector at the wrecker's
