    New cutring head gasket option

Saw this in my email today. SCE is making their own cutring gaskets. They have applications for M50, S50, M54, M20, M30, and M60.

Awesome find. Love to see most competition in this market.

I sent them an email this morning asking them to make a 3.5mm thick version so that we could avoid having to use the copper spacer to lower compression. I got a response back from someone with an email address of athena-sce gaskets. Athena is the company that makes the cutring gasket we already use, so apparently Athena and SCE are the same company. They said that in order to make a 3.5mm version they would need a minimum order of 50 units. I told him they would sell hundreds of them if they just put them in the catalog.

If you think they should make a 3.5mm version so you don't need a copper spacer please email them and tell them you think they should make it.

Wonder if they're going to offer separate gasket replacements... It's quite stupid that you have to buy a whole new cut-ring kit just to get a new HG.

Whoa! That would be huge. Cheaper than MLS, and way lower risk.

    Sending in an email now.

Exactly, tell your friends to email too. They don't know what we want if we don't tell them.

I ordered one of these from summit, it was $213, $230 with tax. It is identical to the Athena gasket I had in last years motor.

The copper spacers are made by Clark Copper Gaskets and can be bought from Maximum PSI and CES Motorsports.

That Athena gasket is also the same as the JE gasket correct? Thanks!

Is there a difference between these and the Pyramid? They look identical.

I don’t know if they have changed them in the last 10 years but pyramid rings had to have a recess machined in the top of the block for them to sit it.

I cannot for the life of me find a fire ring / cutting ring / cut ring gasket for stock bore m54 I see 84.5 86 & 87 between a few manufactures. If someone could chime in and answer my stupid question.

You can use the 84.5 or 86mm on an 84mm bore. If you are installing with the motor in the car consider using the 86mm as it will give more room for error if the rings shift a bit.
