    M50TU IACV specifications

Bentley says IACV specs for M50 are 40 ohms between pins 1-3, 20 1-2, 20 2-3, same as M20 and M30, different from M60 which is 23, 12, 12, respectively. M50TU is not listed separately and it uses a different IACV. Bentley is known to be wrong about specifications sometimes. Can anyone confirm what a VANOS M50's IACV should test at?

The M50tu idle valve is same one used on M52 & M52tu & perhaps others.
    Bosch # 0 280 140 545 I have several examples of this valve carrying different BMW #s, 1 744 713 & 1 738 981
The per Bentley published spec for the M52 valve is 20 ohms between 1&2 and 2&3, 40 ohms between 1&3
checking the 4 known working valves I have on hand I find the 1&2 and 2&3 values average 12.6 and 11.4 respectively and the 1&3 value averages 23.2 among the ones checked. Remarkably similar to the M60 values .
So, it would appear that once again the good folks at Bentley have it wrong. They have a staggering job of verifying and proof reading but this makes the second such discovery in three days for me. See my ABS/DSC thread in E39 section if curious about the other.

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue

Sifu, with all due respect, you are Sifu... We are all merely, students at your calibur. Besides you and Ross, who else can fulfill your inquiry? No disrespect to anyone but, I'm sure most agree.. I wish I could help. I'm just trying to reinstall the intake camshaft splash shield. A simple task that is a bit challenging at my pay grade..

M60 values were my result as well. I wasn't sure which was defective - my IACV or Bentley's writers. Not the first time IME either.

Well, you could unplug your ECU and measure the ohms between pins 54, 2, and 29 (at the plug, not the ECU) - much easier than measuring the IACV directly - but since Ross tested four known good ones, I say no need.
