    Taurus cooling fan wiring question

Ok, before you all light me up for not reading, I did. I have read https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...Fan-Conversion. About 15 times and done some other Google searches.

I am lucky enough to have been in the SHO community for about a decade an while i don't have one anymore, I have enough parts to practically build one. I have a fan and wiring harness laying around so I grabbed the fan and took the corresponding connector and wires from the harness. I also hit the jy today and grabbed the Volvo controler, so I've got all the parts.

My question is this. I understand how to wire the module to power from the remote terminal and wire the two speed controls to the stock sensor in the radiator but I'm a bit confused on the wiring for the fan itself. There are three wires coming off that fan connector. Obviously black is ground but theres a blue and a red/grey wire as well. My understanding is that one is high speed and one is low seed. But the Volvo controller only has two wires for the fan, a red and green.

So my question is, this. Is the black wire supposed to go to a chassis ground and the red and green hook up to the corresponding blue and red/gray from the fan? Or am I missing something completely?

    Thanks, all.

    Yup. Thank you.

I got confused when I saw 3 wires but I figured it out.

Now my issue is, when I plugged it in it turned on. Engine was cold. I did have the purple wire snap at the connector, however, but I took it apart and soldered it back together. Unplugged the middle one, and then plugged it back in, no fan turned on. Now, however I dont think its working at all because she gets hot and no fan. 😪

I use the e36 80/88 degree fan switch 61318361787 for my fan.

Where did you wire your 12v source to? I have mine going to the jump terminal right now, but I'd like to tap into a key on power. I just dont know of which one can handle that amp draw without things getting a bit charry.

I used a relay like in this diagram,

On mine the trigger voltage to pin 86 comes from the alternator blue charge wire so it activates only when the engine is running. And instead of a 30 amp relay like it shows I opted for a 40 amp relay and 40 amp fuse.
