Angry Ass: E34 M5 variable resonance plenum actuator

With the OEM S38B36/B38 vacuum actuator being no longer available from BMW and with it being one of the key components of the variable resonance plenum that gives the S38B36 & S38B38 added power and torque we at Angry *** Solutions decided to develop a replacement. Our unit uses all new components manufactured in Germany or the USA including a mil-spec hard anodized 6061 aluminum machined rod, self-lubricating rod end, and modern vacuum diaphragm assembly. One of the many parts we're developing for our composite variable resonance plenum.

To ensure we are offering the best parts available we developed a test rig for accelerated durability testing of the actuators. Our requirement is 365,000 cycles or the equivalent of 100 activations a day for 10 years.

Take a look at testing on our new YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSFI...ature=youtu.be

We require no core as this is a brand new part and we will be offering the first 5 early adopters the units at $175.00. Contact us through our website if you have any questions at www.AngryAssSolutions.com or if you would like to place an order.

Cool. wish I could participate but alas my M is not in working state yet.

    I'm guessing these commonly fail?

We will not forget the 540! We respect the HP per $ potential a whole lot.

We’re wrapping development on our improved, second-gen PCV delete plate, a prerequisite for FI M60s. We have a in progress for the S38, but the M60 development can slot in earlier depending on demand!

PM one of us if you’re ever in need of M-specific help!

The part does fail commonly, though I’m not sure about frequency/mileage intervals. Typically, the vacuum diaphragm is what fails. The real rub is that the part has been NLA for awhile, and until now there hasn’t been a replacement option using all-new parts.

Particularly on a B36, it’s very noticeable when this actuator is kaput. These cars already lack low-end grunt at full factory curb weight, compared to the V8s, and without this little doodad the effect is drastically exacerbated.

I'm pretty sure I need one as you describe the cars exact performance before it got garaged. Glad I have a source.
