Curious to know if anyone’s ever ran a wider wheel with a 215/225 on stock power. I currently run 17x8 on 225s. Found a good deal on some 17x8.5 wondering if I should give it a go or just stick to the 8’s. Stock s50 with 250,000 miles.
You can run wider... just up the psi to high hell. like 80-90 lol.
Status: Someone put glitter in my oil. Wait. Why's all my oil outside the engine? What's that knocking?
215 on 8.5 is right about perfect. Very little stretch.
205 on 8.5 starts to look sketchy to the old men in the tech line. (autocross events)
Regarding stock power, and more tire...yeah, throw PSI at the problem.
Anecdote: racer buddy had newish NT01 takeoffs he didn't want. 255s on 17x9. Set the psi to 70 and made lots of smoke with 3 passengers and open diff.
that's up to whoever mounts your tires haha
The wheel makes almost no difference other than side bite due to the amount of sidewall flex you have or don't have. Go for it. It'll be fine.
