Hi all,
I have a 1988 730i here in Australia. So far its done 289,000 kms and still running strong. However, there is a small rust spot that has existed for quite a while on the base of the C pillar, and i am wondering if there is any fix i can do to remove it? Its really not that big, only about 5 cm in length and its the only one on the entire car. However, I'd better get rid of it soon as i don't want it to spread throughout the rest of the body. Either way, I am going to professionally respray the entire car in a couple of months time. Will the company who respray the car be able to remove the rust, or i'd need to do it my self? I will attach a picture of what it looks like.

Any help will be appreciated!
I assume you will find more rust there when you remove the decorative frame from the rear window http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E3...ounting_parts/
To re-install the frame you need new clamps item 1 and window sealer

I hate to say it but more than likely the window needs to come out to fix it properly. The question I have is how did it start, it doesn’t look to be rusting from the inside out. Which means you can grind down the area once the window is out, treat the bare metal and use a good epoxy primer and fade in some color and clear.
Getting the window out without breaking it is the challenge but if you get the proper tool (just google window removal tools) it’s not impossible. I pulled one from a car in a junkyard taking my time which was about an hour.
