Hey guys, I am going to copy his catch can setup. Using a M56 aluminum valve cover, the stock CCV parts are gutted from the inside and a metal cap is welded onto where the membrane is. Are there any issues you guys see with this setup? Won't I need some sort of PCV valve to regulate the vacuum? Everything from the stock CCV is removed and the intake manifold is tapped and plugged where the stock air distribution piece used to sit. I've seen a lot of Honda's run this setup but don't know what they do for the vacuum regulation

Sure that would work. I would make sure the hole you drill is above a baffle so it's not just going to be blowing oil out. You'll obviously get oil mist, but that's what the catch can is for.
I like the idea. AN-10 or AN-12 fitting would do quite well here.
A lot of the boosted LSx people run a similar system to this, and even run a breather on their oil cap.
A diy version would be:

If you want to blow the money, Vargas makes a great design:

I run one on my N54 along with a catch can.

Just add a PCV valve somewhere in the line. So air can leave the crankcase, but not come in.
Something like this;

It would be wise to take out that baffle, so you can make that hole, and also clean out any debris.

Without it, it would be seen as a vacuum leak, correct? Something like this https://www.amazon.com/FV345-Positiv.../dp/B000C31K72

Just one catch can with two -12AN ports on the catch can and valve cover.
By the way, I really appreciate you commenting on the post. I also posted in the Boosted E36 facebook group and many people are running the same setup without a check valve and they say it's been working great. Any reason they aren't having issues?

I will try it out and see what happens.
I just thought of something - if I were to run that valve, will I be putting it right under where the breather filter will sit? If that's the case, I might be able to find a valve that isn't restrictive such as this http://www.eliteengineeringusa.com/elite-engineerings-one-way-check-valves/
I just saw your post #4 and the link to that check valve. The one I linked looks familiar. Sorry that I missed it. I bet that check valve would work good
I might go with this (http://www.uprproducts.com/billet-check-valve.html#1) as it has a cracking pressure of 0psi so it shouldn't be restrictive.

I had to zoom out a lot so it's a little hard to read but they''re saying since there's no vacuum in the crankcase, air won't be sucked back in through the vent in the catch can https://ibb.co/PCB9Y4V
