    DME/DDE Error Codes + Engine light

    Hello!

    I have a BMW E60 525i from 2005 and i've noticed some occational error codes when im reading the car with INPA.
    A total of 8 error's under the headline "DME/DDE" which i assume is the ECU? (Correct?)
    I would love to post a pic but i'll have to write it down:

    12 DME/DDE OKAY 8 Error Stored

    2EF5 Total errors: 24
    2E8E Total errors: 24
    2E81 Total errors: 01
    2A98 Total errors: A1
    2A82 Total errors: 88
    2AAB Total errors: 08
    2C9E Total errors: 84
    2C9F Total errors: 84

    Those are the main codes i want to take care of, as i suspect it's them that makes my engine light shine from time to time. When i cleared the codes last time i could drive for almost 600km before it light up again, it's not like it lights up when i drive it but it lights up when i have driven it and then it sit over night and then the engine light is on again....

    I know im bad at explaining but i mainly want help with the error codes and what they mean as i can't find it anywhere and it is making me go nuts.

    Okey, i did some research and this is what i found out:

    12 DME/DDE OKAY 8 Error Stored


    2EF5 Total errors: 24 -> Thermostat disruption
    2E8E Total errors: 24 -> IBS, Intelligent Battery Sensor
    2E81 Total errors: 01 -> Waterpump malfunction
    2A98 Total errors: A1 -> 2A98 Crankshaft-inlet camshaft, Un-clean solonoid.
    2A82 Total errors: 88 -> Same as above, VANOS Solonoid
    2AAB Total errors: 08 -> Not sure about this one, maybe a fuse for the DME which is located in the glovebox, Nr. 8? 60A
    2C9E Total errors: 84 -> Lambda is issuing fault code
    2C9F Total errors: 84 -> Same as the above due to two lambdas next to each other.

    Make sure to correct me if im wrong!

    The same code is often assigned to different errors on different engines. Do you have the M54 or N52 engine? Do all the codes come back after clearing?
    Start with replacing the thermostat.

    In the USA, 2005 E60 had the M54. But if he's got water pump faults, I'm going to have to assume in Sweden, they already have some variation of the N52.

    The 525i E60 never had the N52 in the USA? I thought it was the N53 that wasn't available because of fuel quality.
    Searching for n52 usa returns a couple of interesting results. Realoem shows M54 and N52 for 2005 USA 525i.

    Of course the E60 had the N52 in the US, but it wasn't till the 2006 model year. The poster above me asked if yours was M54 or N52. Your profile said 2005 E60, so I was just clarifying.

    I wasn't criticizing what you said. I am in Europe, I don't know much about which models are sold in the USA.

    I can see the first US E60 N52 525i on realoem from 07/2004


    Is this related to how model years are labeled over there? One year ahead of construction?
