    Lightbulb Bought My F10 today

    Hi guys newbie here

just purchased a 2015 M5 with competition package

regarding gas: I have always preferred non ethanol laced gas, 93 octane

I am in Florida for a while and 93 octane non-ethanol gas is hard to find.

What is better for my M5:

    93 octane with ethanol, or

    90 octane ethanol free ??

If I can not get 90 octane, should I get ethanol free 87 octane ??

As you can tell, I hate ethanol

    Thanks for your help

That's quite a conundrum. I would think 90 ethanol free would be better than ethanol gas? I don't know that I'd go down to 87 just for the non-ethanol. With a turbocharged engine, you really want to stick with a higher octane since a boosted engine is more likely to have detonation. With the 87 octane, the DME's will most likely pull timing to prevent the knock and you might lose a few horsepower. No big deal to some, but why else would you buy an M5?

Not sure where you are in Florida, but this website purports to maintain a list of gas stations in each state that sell ethanol-free gas. https://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=FL

Yep, I use this web site a lot

However, best sites near me sell 90 octane ethanol free, some offer only 87 octane ethanol free.

I can not find 93 ethanol free anywhere.
    Thanks,

93 octane with E10 content is just fine.

My M5 is tuned and I pump 6gal of E85 and then another 12 of 93 netting E30 blend // 98 octane. At the higher boost levels I run its much happier.

Turbo cars like ethanol, and you can likely run E20 or so no problem on stock everything to enjoy the extra timing & torque.

If the original poster still has any kind of warranty, then do not run anything over E10. Even without warranty, I'd never run anything over E10. Factory tuning is not calibrated for it.
