E36 M3 Sedan Rear Triangle Window Gasket

Does anyone know where you can purchase the rear window triangle trim? I thought about painting it. It just looks rusty/dirty and really draws your eyes to it. Any thoughts or remedies from others is appreciated.

Isnt it a rubber molding around the rear window triangle on your car? There is a matte black aluminum window track pillar holding the rubber molding. Is this what you are referring to? I had a hard time trying to figure out how to remove it from the door. It runs down the door since it holds the sliding window as well. I wrapped mine black.

Its on the outside of the triangle window. How did you wrap your black?

Find the part and part number, then go buy it at your favorite BMW dealer.

Found the part (#51341960915) but, looks rather difficult to remove. However, its fairly inexpensive.

Have you tried just treating it with a rubber/vinyl cleaner/protectant? I hit mine every few washes with 303 when I do the rest of the black trim and it helps.

I would use CarPro Dlux. It's a more permanent low gloss solution of the modern ceramic coating kind. 303 is kind of just old school trash and does not last (sorry, but it is and I have used it for many many years now).

Replacing the window gasket is kind of a PITA but not difficult. You have to remove the sliding window to loosen the window track to remove the triangle window. The gasket pulls out after you remove the triangle window.

The correct rubber treatment is Gummi fledge(sp). If the gasket is deteriorated, it wont help but you can treat the other good rubber parts on the car. trunk, door, window, engine bay, etc.. seals

Again, another product that doesn't really work or last. It's also incredibly inconsistent in application sheen. Sorry.

    are slow.
I've used Gummi Pflege for years. It honestly sucks. It keeps the rubber in good condition if you apply it often, it's just the sheen and color is way off between pieces of rubber.
Also the applicator sucks. I just haven't found anything else that seems to do a similar job.

Lol the foam applicator on mine disintegrated 8 years ago. I use a small microfiber towel to apply. Its a rubber conditioner and thats what i use it for. You apply it, it soaks into the rubber and let it dry. If you want finish, autogeek says:

Nextzett Rubber Care Stick “Gummi Pflege” isn’t a dye or darkener. The treated rubber will look conditioned, but there is no artificial color. If your rubber needs restoration, apply Forever Black Bumper and Trim Dye and allow it to dry. Then apply Gummi Pflege to the rubber to maintain the look and feel of the rubber.

I use it to help preserve the 21 year old rubber seals... and its doing a great job! Having a indoor garage to protect from the elements is probably more important tho.
