Suggestions on my next Bimmer - All thoughts welcome!!

    Hello,
I'm new to BimmerForums but have been a part of e46fanatics for many years. I've owned my 2000 323ci w/ manual trans. for about 15 years and it's been the best car I've ever had. I love how well it handles but wish it had better acceleration.

I'm in the market for a new Bimmer and am seeking suggestions. My primary considerations are acceleration, handling, and reliability.
I don't care if it has 2 or 4 doors, if it's a hatchback, or interior/exterior styling (for the most part). It need not have all kinds of electronic gadgets or other bells and whistles. I'd prefer a manual transmission but would go with a good automatic.

Any suggestions on models to look at or avoid would be appreciated greatly. Any years/models to avoid because they're more problematic would also be helpful. I realize most of the input offered will be anecdotal and not necessarily law so please post without worry of judgement and please disagree with other posts politely.
    Thanks,
    2000BB

I'd consider a CPO M235i. Others may correct me, but I think the verdict is still out on the long-term reliability of the engine in the M240i, and a CPO M235i will be cheaper (obviously). Plus, an M235i probably can be easily found with a manual (unlike many new BMWs), and has good power and handling. Test drive one. I drove an M240i in BMW's Two-Day Performance Driving School, and it was a blast on the track. Hope this helps!

^ I echo that: drove one with 3 pedals and it was a blast. I have 2 e46s and e36, M240 felt just right in terms of size/weight/flick-ability.
