    Another 850i saved!

Swapped to get this car, needed paint. 140k miles. Auto 850i. Stoked i that my paint job turned out so well. After receiving the car, i added msd coils and a few other odds and ends, as well as a single walbro 255 pump to get rid of the dual in tanks. On the road shortly after the exhaust is finished.

Congrats on saving an 8! It will be interesting to see how the single fuel pump works out.

Should work just fine, as a single bosch pump is capable of driving both banks...
I am running 2 walbros but I have forced induction.
Hard to tell from pics but looks like wet sanding will be needed on paint.

Its actually dusty, from sitting in my shed fora week while farmers plowed fields. Im going FI as well, but will daily drive it as is til o collect the parts. Turbo fab is the easy part, since i own a turbo shop and very familiar with bolsting things. Ill use the 255x2 when we take that on woth an MS unit for the software.

Cool, easier path is the supercharger which is what I have. You can tune the existing motronic ecus with either. MS unit on the v12 able to control eml throttles? You probably will go with cable throttles...

Correcto, a single 90mm LS based throttle. The intake plenums will be a big single unit made to bolt onto the tops ofnthe runners once fabbed up.
The love i habe for turbo setups has me going that route, and woth any luck the head studs wont be stressed enough to pull threads haha. But again, this project will probably take a year or two to just get ironed out.

Nice job man! It's great to see an awesome old car get pulled back from the brink.
IMHO, no matter what you decide to do, keep all of the original bits and pieces.
BTW, that shade of red is a fairly uncommon color - good choice!

Yes all" it is Brilliantrot :-)
Thank you all for the comments!

To be honeat i hadnt noticed much difference in the reds wtil i saw this color in the sunlight after the paint was finished. Im a bit of a nut on the e31s, so if i can get my hands on another car needing saved ill probably try to be the one who saves it haha :-)

Mine's also Brilliantrot, but I just had some work done (some branches fell on my car over last winter), and the respray seems a shade dark. They gave me the left over paint, and it does seem to be correct. I mentioned it to them and they keep saying it's just faded (you can see the old color in the door jams). I would really complain if not for the fact that everyone that sees it says they like this color much more (as well as myself).

    Anyway, nice save!

Wow - amazing job and thanks for saving another 8 series and keeping the values up for the rest of us!
Do you have any more pics of the in process restoration? I’m in the process of restoring/upgrading my 8 and would love some pointers before I paint mine!!

Great work - are you using the M8 prototype as inspiration? Looks very M8ish

Yes, in a small way, although i love the looks of black and red together. I have a 91 6 speed to restore next, and that came with a csi front bumper, was tempting to not ise it on this car.

Nothing wrong with working your canvas like the E31 M8, it's one of the most beautiful cars I think BMW ever penned together. Keep on saving the 8's!
