I'm working on refreshing the cooling system and looking for the best deal on a BEHR rad for my car. '84 Euro 635 manual with a/c.
According to RealOEM the correct part# is 17111712447. However, FCP Euro has a BEHR at a great price but the part# is 17111468546?
I can't find any reference for this part. Anyone have a better cross reference or superceded info?
Thanks

George,
You should ask them if the side tanks are plastic.
I got my new Radiator from Husker and the side tanks were aluminum.

Hi Doc,
How are you doin'?
George, the best is Wizard hands down: https://wizardcooling.com/?gclid=EAI...SAAEgJ-5PD_BwE
I'll see you @ the next "Idiotfest" I can hope can't I?
Wizard is pricey, and clearly not an OE-style design, but it's super-beefy...
I would imagine having brushless fans AND an exhaust to funnel the hot air into would be even better, as heat rises the best wat would be to make a hole into the bonnet, or into the fender to prevent the hot air from staying around the engine.
Has anyone ever done such a thing? I don't mean 'vent slots only' but a physical connection between the back of the schroud and the vent slots.

rock auto shows it as well under a Nissans number, they also have measurements which might be useful ?

SO Is there any difference in these two part numbers in George's original question?
REAL OEM doesn't show the xxx8546 for any chassis and many others including dealer sites does not come up. The 8546 number does show at some vendors for considerably less that the 2447 one.
considering a OE BMW.
TIA
Judging from the pics I see of the -8546 radiator, it looks like the South African-made version with which some of us have been experiencing overheating (or at least running hotter than normal) issues. I've gone through this. My suggestion is to just ante up and get the OE radiator; you'll likely save yourself some grief.
Here's a discussion about this topic from another forum:

Gentlemen, the Wizard radiator is far superior than the OEM.
Unless your going to a AACA judging or equivalent event,
why not get an all aluminum, more rods and fins for better cooling for about the same price.
Can someone answer me that question.
I really would truly like to get your thoughts on your decision.
I imagine since these cars are now achieving antique status, many owners of minty, well-preserved ones prefer to use OE type products to keep them looking original.
Personally, I don't have a problem with using an aftermarket radiator if it's much higher quality than OE. I do like the idea of all-aluminum construction, and I think there are a few of them on the market. However, I've read that some of them (not necessarily Wizard) require some modification to the fan shroud to get them to fit. Some users have also noted that there is an issue with fan clearance, and that they require removal before you can take off the fan. That would complicate simple tasks like belt replacements.
Given the fact that the expected life of any decent radiator (assuming proper maintenance) is probably 20 years or greater, most owners would probably prefer to use quality bolt-in parts that won't complicate matters. My experience with an OE radiator has been that it was perfect fitment, and cools the car just fine. My cost in 2018 was about $370. It's made in Germany and the quality appears to be very good. However, I would like to hear more about your experience with a Wizard.

FCPEuro stocks the right Behr radiator for our cars and any worries about longevity are addressed by their lifetime warranty. Buying from FCPEuro would mean it's the last radiator you will pay for. Although it would be a pain if it has to be replaced frequently.

Livin the dream!
I need to keep the B7/2 as close to stock as possible for obvious reasons
not interested in South African Behr
Just trying to find out what difference is there ,if any ,between the OE two radiators beside the 8546 one being 100.00 less.
No one has been able to answer as yet as most vendors can't run n back room n take a look as they are in regional warehouses etc.
I've owned my 6 for 32 years. The Wizard is the fourth radiator I bought.
The plastic reservoirs all failed throughout the years. Don't think I'll
have that problem again. Like I said, I can understand going for a
judged car show were the competition is serious.
As far as the clearance goes, I'll offer a solution.
Remove #4 rubber and bolt the rad back onto header to
give more room for fan to be removed.

I finally received a reply to an inquiry about difference in part # below from eEuroparts.com
pulled trigger with Nissens 60602A made in Slovakia. Was less than half OE Radiator and comfortable with a euro made part. We shall see.
Thank you for your inquiry! There is no difference between these two part numbers, part# 17111712447 is just a cross-referenced number for 17111468546 and they are both manufacturers BMW numbers for Radiator. Since you already have Nissens Radiator part# 60602 we can offer you the same Nissens Radiator part #60602A which is just the replaced part# and you can find it from the link below :
Makes me glad my 81 has a brass radiator!! Infinitely rebuildable and it has a tripple core
