    E34 4.0 dyno day

    So I got my 4.0 swapped 530 on the dyno this morning and it made a pretty disappointing 219hp and 235tq, are these numbers normal for stock, where should I start to look to get some more power out of the old girl? It has a dinan chipped ecu but that’s all I know about the tune as I did not buy it

    Were going to need to know what kind of dyno it was, what mods the car has and what transmission it is.

    The dyno was a dyno jet, ac delete, clutch fan delete, no emission controls, cat and muffler delete, the exhaust is 2-1/4”, trans is the 530 5speed

    do a static compression test see if you have any dead cylinders? just a thought. how does it idle?

    Idles pretty steady at about 600, and I’ll get around to doing a compression test sometime today and post the results

    Umm he did say the previous owner money shifted that motor. That's why he swapped it out :facepalm

    if youre m60 savvy just pull the head and check the cylinder wall. if its clean with no scoring just change the rings on that one piston. obviously some labor but cheaper than a new motor. hopefully nothing is wrong with it.

    It’s the one that ended up in the car when he was finished, the the quarter panel got backed into and it was parted out

    Would have been 250 with all 8 hitting which is about average.

    If you have to do it again, go 4.4.

    That’s way more work than swapping out a b40. And b40s are available everywhere for as little as $300.
