Crooked Clutch Pedal ( Replaced Bushings + Pedal )

    Hello everyone,

I have been dealing with a low engaging, unpredictable clutch since I bought my E36.

I replaced the CDV - much better clutch feel
Replaced bushings with UUC delrin - Engagement moved a bit higher in travel but still the pedal was crooked

Took the car out of storage last week and replaced the clutch pedal with an OEM BMW one and the pedal is still bent/crooked

I drove with the UUC pedal bushings on my old pedal for about 15,000kms. Could the bushings have worn out? I also used both washers that came with the bushings.

The clutch feel is amazing compared to how it was when I bought the car but looking at the pedal bothers the hell out of me.

    Thanks!

    Thanks!
    Yup, pretty common issue.

You could try the oiled bronze bushings as well. They seem to be the best.

The OEM pedal always seems to tilt to the left for some reason over time.

Mason engineering makes the best replacement pedal on the market. It's on the bottom of this page.

What he said. I replaced my bushings with oiled bronze and it helped a little bit, but not much if you're expecting perfect vertical alignment.

From what I gather the only surefire way to rectify is the Mason pedal.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

I'm thinking I will order some bronze bushings and then maybe invest in a clutch stop with a wider surface area.

    Will update.

I found the annoying alignment issue was best solved by removing the clutch stop. My foot doesn't know the difference if there is not stop to miss when pushing the pedal to the floor. I also like the long travel as it helps me engage it smoother and it's more like the other manuals I own.

What is really funny is when you finally realize that the pedals are actually slightly offset from your seated position...maybe they are crooked to offset that, ha!

Now that i think about it, my pedal is a little crooked too but it doesn't bother me.
