Hey guys,
I have an 87 325 sedan (this is the base model, it has the 2.7eta engine, but no e or i designation). I have owned the car since this past Thanksgiving, and so far, I have been performing general and preventative maintenance on the car. I have noticed over the past few weeks a chirping sound coming from the engine bay when the engine is above 2,700rpm. As soon as it dips back below that, the noise goes away. I have searched the threads to no avail. It doesn't seem to me to be the belts, thought it may certainly be. I will be replacing the timing belt, water pump, coolant sensor, etc. here soon.
Does anyone have an idea what this may be?
it could be a v-belt or one of the pulleys for the waterpump, alt, or power steering has bearing getting ready to go. when you change the belts, you will find out if it stops or not. then, if its still going, take the power steering belt off and try it, then the ac and try it. lastly, take the alternator off and try it out. you should surely find it that way
No e30s again.
Thank you! I’ll give an update after I change the belts!
