    What does this mean in the dash display?

    I have a 2015 BMW 528i and driving this morning, the sun is 50 - display and I saw silhouette of something I haven't seen before. Just curious what it is. Couldn't find anything in the owner's manual. Car doesn't have Factory backup cameras or Lane departure warning by the way.

    The Executive Package includes Lane Departure Warning. I have this, but don't use it because it can be annoying every time I change lanes (slowly)

    +1, although I do use mine and find it very useful --- keeps me on the straight-and-narrow.

    Thanks so much for the replies. I don't have a button or anything for it so i assume thatI don't have it. Strange that it would be on the display though

    Not strange at all. BMW makes one instrument cluster for all the 5-series. Then each vehicle is coded/programmed, and only the features the car has will illuminate. Why make ten different clusters when you can make one? Simple cost savings.

    Ditto...and that icon is not just the Lane Departure warning...it is also part of the collision warning (with city mitigation depending on production build date), and ACC (adaptive cruise control) icon, too.

    The lane departure icon illuminates the outer dashed lines and the two arrows on the left and right (read the description in the owners manual to learn when the lines and arrows appear).

    The collision warning (or city warning with city mitigation)...illuminates the car (in red) as part of a visual and/or visual and audible alert if the cameras or radar detects a possible collision.

    If you have ACC...then the icon of the"rear end of a car, inner solid lines, and horizontal lines in the center illuminate when ACC is set and when you adjust the distance to the car ahead that you want to select. Again, turn to your owners manual for more details as to how to initiate ACC and set the distance ahead to the car in front of you.

    {the pic below shows the LANE DEPARTURE icon illuminated}
