Bottom seat heat element hot spot

Okay so I am having my bottom heat element replaced on both seats. Since both have to be peeled apart I might was well replace the leather too. I decided and ordered dark red leather. I thought it would look nice against the titanium silver exterior and break of the entire black interior.

Question about the plastic seat belt guide holder on the seat. I recall seeing someone made a strap that snaps out of leather but cannot find it again. It was done very professionally and I asked they shop that's doing the work, Beaverton Auto Upholstery, if they can do the same. I just need to show him what I want.

Anyone recall seeing the same photo? Seats are not scheduled for replacement until end of May so I have time.

    I'm still searching...

I think you're after the guide shown in post 11 in this thread: https://forums.bimmerforums.com/foru...at-belt-guides

There's a guy on Ebay who sells a velcro kit, if it will work for you.

If you're tempted to use the velcro kit then I'd suggest using 1" heatshrink for a pretty much invisible repair. But I think OP was looking for a permanent alternative solution to the plastic runners.

I use the velcro. My original plastic holders are unbroken, and the velcro will keep them that way. Compared to heat shrink, velcro allows access to the slot for removal of the belt from the holder. That is useful for when you remove a seat for various reasons.

Thanks for all the ideas. I think I found a fix that I'll appreciate and will look nice. I just need to be certain the shop can make these from the photos I'll provide to them.

In the BMW Z8 they have leather straps that snap on the seat. It's my best option to avoid future repairs and since they're already in there I'll have him fix the snaps using hex head and place a aluminum bracket to replace the thin plastic.

    Here's my idea...

Here is what my seats will look like when completed sans the black leather side insert. Mine will be all deep red.
