    M52TU valve cover gasket ?

Got a ? about my new valve cover gasket, im replacing on my 99 M52TU. The grove along the edges of the cover isnt very deap, cousing the gasket to seem like it wont seat properly, just curious if the gasket should be trimmed, or is it normal?

Do you have a pic? I’ve never heard of anyone having to trim that gasket.

Sorry, but im not sure how to put pics on here, but the part that goes down into the grove, wont let the upper lip lay flush, got about an 1/8" gap the whole way around the pan, even the two center plug gaskets are the same, what gives?

You put the gasket on the valve cover not the head if that helps.

Do not use Victor Reinz gasket on valve cover. If you do you will have leaky valve cover very soon. They don't last.

Also don't forget to order the little valve cover grommets (if I remember correctly there are 15 of them), they are the parts that actually put the clamping pressure on the valve cover to keep it sealed.

Your new gasket will also sit proud, its the way they are designed to work.

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.

Ive used victor reinz on tons of m5x engines. Only ever had an issue on s54s which for some reason will randomly leak sometimes with any non OE gasket.

Dont forget the rtv at half moond and timing cover joint
